Aultman College Community Education Partners With Red Cross to Offer Babysitter Training

CANTON, Ohio (April 13, 2011) – Adolescents and teens interested in building a babysitting business can gain valuable skills by taking an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course offered through Aultman College Community Education (ACCE).
The one-day course, designed for 11-15 year olds, teaches participants the skills they need to be safe and responsible babysitters. Through a combination of video presentations, activities, hands-on training and discussion, participants will learn how to:
• respond to emergencies and illnesses,
• make decisions under pressure,
• communicate with parents to learn household rules,
• recognize safety and hygiene issues,
• manage young children and
• feed diaper and care for infants.
Students leave the course with a Red Cross First Aid kit, babysitter manual, pocket guide and a CD with templates and forms to help them market their babysitting services and create a confident babysitting experience.
All courses are held in the comfortable and well-equipped classrooms of the Aultman Education Center, the home of Aultman College, located at the corner of Dartmouth and Ninth Street SW.
Price for the one day course, which lasts from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., is $49. Students are required to bring a packed lunch.
