Aultman Woodlawn Hosts Third Annual Stoke Awareness Event

In conjunction with National Stroke Awareness Month in May, Aultman invites community members to attend a free program dedicated to stroke awareness and prevention. The 2014 “Stop Stroke” event will be held Thursday, May 15 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Aultman Woodlawn main lobby.

CANTON, Ohio (April 24, 2014) — In conjunction with National Stroke Awareness Month in May, Aultman invites community members to attend a free program dedicated to stroke awareness and prevention. The 2014 “Stop Stroke” event will be held Thursday, May 15 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Aultman Woodlawn main lobby. The Aultman Woodlawn campus is located at 2821 Woodlawn Ave. in Canton.

The Stop Stroke event will include:

  • Information on stroke prevention, warning signs, risk factors and more.
  • Health screenings including blood pressure and body mass index.
  • Information on Aultman’s free “Give It Up!” tobacco cessation program.
  • Healthy snacks and nutrition tips.

Peggy Stabholz – a certified laughter leader, case manager and stroke survivor – will be presenting “Laugh: Jest for the Health of It” around 1:30 p.m. Members of the Aultman Together Helping Increase Neurological Knowledge (THINK) stroke support group will also be on hand to share their experiences.
