“Knowledge is power,” as the old adage states. The Aultman Cancer Center is hosting an educational program to empower people with cancer and their caregivers.
CANTON, Ohio (April 15, 2014) – “Knowledge is power,” as the old adage states. The Aultman Cancer Center is hosting an educational program to empower people with cancer and their caregivers.
The four-part Knowledge is Power series will be held at the Aultman North Canton Medical Group Community Room, located at 6046 Whipple Ave. NW in North Canton.
“This series will be helpful for patients, caregivers and anyone who has an interest in cancer and its treatment. Knowledge is power,” said Aultman Cancer Program Medical Director and Aultman North Canton Medical Group Oncologist Paul Manuszak, M. D.
Each Knowledge is Power session will include educational presentations, question-and-answer periods with local cancer experts and light refreshments. Here is the program schedule:
- Tuesday, May 6: What cancer is, causes, incidence and statistics, genetics, prevention, how it is diagnosed and staged.
- Monday, May 12: Cancer treatment and side effects including surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy; management of side effects.
- Monday, May 19: Cancer treatment and side effects including radiation therapy, clinical trials; management of side effects.
- Tuesday, May 27: Supportive care and coping during cancer treatment including diet, exercise, psychosocial support; survivorship.
