CANTON, Ohio (May 19, 2014) – For the tenth consecutive year, Aultman employees visited local first-grade classrooms to encourage bike safety through the “Safety First” program. This year, between February and May, Aultman employees educated 5,951 students at 90 schools in Stark, Wayne and Carroll Counties.

The “Safety First” program has been encouraging helmet use and bike safety for first-graders since 2005. Teams of Aultman employees visit local classrooms to teach a lesson on bike safety. In addition to learning that helmets are essential to safety, students are taught the rules of the road using a fun, interactive coloring book that they can take home and review again with an adult. At the end of the session, each first-grader is given a new bicycle helmet.

Of course, the students enjoy the program, but the Aultman employees also benefit from participation in the ‘Safety First’ program. “I know I get as much enjoyment out of it as the kids do!” said Aultman employee Lynn Helscher. “It is so fun to talk to the kids about riding their bikes and being safe,” she continued. “They get so excited and share their stories about things that happened to them on their bikes. It’s a great way for us to give back to our community!”

I'm not a professional teacher, but I am licensed to teach bicycle safety and have done some of that, and I am also an introvert. Assignment Service I wouldn't call myself shy anymore, but I definitely was in my teen years, and have worked at mastering that. (I'm 45 now.) I'm not a regular on this board, but I happened to see your query at the seat of a page of my discussion group for instructors of the Cycling know-how bike education program, and hope that I may be able to provide some suggestions.
