CANTON, Ohio (Aug. 11, 2014) -- Aultman Hospital is searching for well-behaved dogs of all sizes and their dedicated owners to participate in Happy Tails, a dog visitation program that exposes patients, family, visitors and staff to the positive experience of interacting with an animal.

With the help of volunteers, the Aultman Hospital Happy Tails program provides a positive psycho-social experience and alternative therapy for patients. Research shows that spending time with a pet can reduce blood pressure and stress, normalize heart rate and improve circulation.

Happy Tails dogs and handlers go through a rigorous training process performed by Pet Partners certified evaluators. Screenings are held twice yearly to join the Happy Tails team.

The next Pet Partners Handler Course is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is required by Friday, Sept. 19. You must complete this course to evaluate with your dog. Pet Partners evaluations will be held by appointment only on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Aultman Hospital.
