Joint Commission Accreditation

Aultman is proud to be accredited by The Joint Commission, which is the national accrediting body for hospitals and other health-care delivery organizations. The Joint Commission mission is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health-care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health-care organizations.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, established more than 50 years ago. It is governed by a board that includes physicians, nurses and consumers - and sets the standards by which health-care quality is measured in America and around the world.

The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care for nearly 15,000 health-care organizations. To maintain and earn accreditation, organizations must have an extensive on-site review by a team of Joint Commission health-care professionals, at least once every three years. The purpose of the review is to evaluate the organization's performance in areas that affect your care. Accreditation may then be awarded based on how well the organizations met Joint Commission standards.

Aultman was reaccredited in March 2008. Additionally, in 2007, Aultman was recertified by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center.
