AultWorks Expands to Western Stark

March 18, 2008, Massillon Independent

When it comes to saving on gas, every mile helps.

Massillon-area residents and business owners may soon be saving a buck here and there now that AultWorks -- the Aultman Health Foundation's occupational medicine component -- has expanded services to the Aultman West location.

AultWorks services will still be offered at its original location, 3730 Whipple Ave. N.W., but Western Stark County residents can now receive the same services closer to home.

"Research that we did showed that Aultcare had a lot of businesses ... or had businesses with employees that reside in (Western Stark County)," said Dr. Michael Marvin, Aultworks medical director. "They liked the idea of having shorter distance to go for the same services at Aultman West."

Aultman West had previously offered occupational therapy services to Western Stark County, but the addition of occupational medicine at the facility makes it "a one-stop shop," according to Mike Furcolow, director of Aultworks. Employees injured at work can be treated immediately at Aultman West and if the need for therapy arises, they can come to the facility for that as well.

"We would like," Furcolow said, "to see (Aultman West) become Western Stark County's leading occupational medicine and work-related injury place of care."

Because Aultman West was already equipped for MRI and X-ray, Marvin pointed out that nearly all treatment for work-related injuries can happen on site.

Bill Schweizer, vice president of ARE -- a Massillon-based company that manufactures fiberglass and aluminum covers and caps for pick-up trucks -- said that location is everything, especially for employee trying to get back to work after being injured.

"No one wants to be hurt," Schweizer said. "Helping employees get back to work as soon as possible is important."

But it isn't just the "hurt and can't work" services that are offered through Aultworks. At Aultman West, employers in and around Massillon can make use of Aultworks services including:

  • Drug screenings for pre-placement, post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion
  • Breath Alcohol Testing for post-accident and reasonable suspicion
  • Department of Transportation physicals: Initial and recertification
  • Pre-placement physicals
  • Executive health physicals

In fact, about half of the services that will provided through AultWorks at Aultman West will be services to the employer.
