Cancer Patients Sought to ‘Look Good…Feel Better’ Oct 13
CANTON, Ohio (Oct. 6, 2009) – Aultman Hospital is encouraging all oncology patients and family members to attend the “Look Good…Feel Better” Open House on Oct. 13, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., for support and advice on managing the effects of therapy.
“We are also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the program nationally,” said Patty Begue, RN and program liaison. “’Look Good…Feel Better’ is a national public-service program created from the concept that if someone with cancer can be helped to look good, their improved self-esteem will help them to approach their disease and treatment with greater confidence.
Every cancer patient will:
- receive a kit filled with $200 worth of cosmetics from National Cosmetology Association and Personal Care Products Council Foundation,
- enjoy a free makeover by a licensed cosmetologist trained on oncology needs,
- learn make-up and hair techniques,
- browse Aultman’s collection of free wigs, hats and scarves,
- and be entered for a chance to win a door prize.
Others are also welcome to attend and learn about the program. Refreshments will be served.
In addition to the open house, “Look Good…Feel Better” sessions are also offered the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. to noon, and the second Wednesday of each month at 6-8 p.m.
All events are held in Aultman’s Infusion Therapy department located in Memorial 3 South (the south wing of the third floor of the main hospital at 2600 Sixth St. SW). Registration is required for all events; call Patty at 330-363-6264.
