CANTON, Ohio (Sept. 2, 2009) -- State Representative W. Scott Oelslager will join Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences students from noon to 2 p.m. on Sept. 14, to kick off Constitution Week.
Oelslager – who is serving his fourth term in the Ohio House of Representatives and represents the 51st House District, which includes portions of Stark County – will join student leaders for lunch and a discussion of the meaning of representation, followed by a tour of the College and a ‘meet and greet’ with students.
Other activities marking Constitution Week at Aultman College include:

- Sept. 17 – Health care Legislation Regulation Review and Constitution Day trivia contest
Students will also nominate representatives for Student Senate during the week-long celebration. During the 2008-2009 school year, 25 students served on Student Senate, which is 10 percent of the College’s enrollment.
Constitution Week, held nationally Sept. 14-18, celebrates the birth of the American government system. Constitution Day is officially marked on Sept. 17.
According to the National Constitution Center, “On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitution was signed by thirty-nine brave men who changed the course of history. Now Constitution Day (September 17) is a time for us to continue their legacy and develop habits of citizenship in a new generation of Americans.”
