Aultman College Faculty Members Earn Accolades
November 18, 2011
CANTON, Ohio (Nov. 18 2011) – Two instructors at Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Canton have recently been honored with individual achievement awards.
Dr. Jean Paddock was recognized in Ohio Magazine’s Excellence in Education tribute. The Excellence in Education honor is given to memorable educators at Ohio’s outstanding colleges and universities. Jean will be formally recognized in the magazine’s December issue. As the assistant director of general education and an assistant professor of chemistry at Aultman College, Paddock ignites an interest in science for students of all ages. Prior to Aultman College, Paddock worked as a high school science instructor as well as “Mrs. Science,” a lecturer for elementary schools. Paddock is the passionate voice for the “Door to Discovery” campaign, a fundraising initiative to build campus-based science laboratories at Aultman College. In addition, she facilitates elementary age science camps and is a community presenter for science related topics. “It is an honor for me to be an educator of science,” said Paddock. “To be recognized for any efforts in education is an embarrassment of riches.”
Kelly Carmany, clinical instructor at Aultman College was recently chosen as the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from The National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (N-OADN). The foundation’s 2011 Bobbie Anderson Faculty Scholarship is awarded annually to a master’s degree-seeking nursing student. “I feel privileged,” Carmany said. “I know there are many qualified master’s degree-seeking nursing students competing for this scholarship.” Carmany is currently enrolled in the clinical nurse specialist track at Kent State University and will receive her degree in May 2012. She is a full time faculty member at Aultman College and plans to advance her career at the college upon graduation.
