Recognized as a leader in heart care, Mercy has helped pioneer some of the nation's most innovative heart procedures. Mercy's Emergency Chest Pain Center (ECPC) was America's first Chest Pain Center to be fully accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers and Providers. The Mercy ECPC set a national standard for rapid and efficient management of heart attack/acute myocardial infarction patients. In addition, Mercy was the first hospital in Northeast Ohio to perform minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass surgery.
In the early 1980s, Mercy started the trend of providing outpatient services in various geographical locations throughout the area. Now residents can take care of many of their health-care needs closer to home. Mercy operates six outpatient health centers located in North Canton, Carrollton, Dover, Jackson Township, Lake Township and Louisville.
The Mercy Cancer Center is designated by the National Cancer Institute as a comprehensive Cancer Center and offers area residents convenient access to a cancer center that is nationally renowned for the treatment and care of people with cancer. The Mercy Boutique, a place for hope and healing, is Mercy's latest service available to the community. The Mercy Boutique offers products and services for cancer survivors and individuals with other health conditions.
Other centers of excellence at Mercy Medical Center include the Regional Rehabilitation Center, Orthopedic Center and Emergency/Trauma Services. Plans are currently in progress for the construction of a new Intensive Care Unit and renovation/construction of the Mercy Emergency Department, which will include a Cardiac Catheterization Lab within the department.
