Prerequisites and Admissions Requirements



Prerequisites
The applicant must be a graduate of an accredited high school.

All college preqrequisite courses should be complete before applying to the program, and a minimum GPA of 2.5 must be demonstrated in these courses:

  • Anatomy and physiology I and II (with dissection labs)
  • Medical terminology
  • Microbiology
  • Basic pharmacology
  • Pathophysiology
Admission Requirements
It is the applicant's responsibility to furnish the following items to complete the application process:

  • Completed Aultman Hospital application (click on the link below to download)
  • An official high school transcript
  • An official college transcript containing prerequisite courses taken within the past five years
  • Three letters of reference, excluding immediate family members and including one from your former teacher or employer
  • Proof of updated CPR certification
  • A $30 nonrefundable application fee
The school's admissions committee accepts a limited number of students in each class. The applicant will not be considered until all items are present. A review of all the completed applicant's files will be made, and an interview will be scheduled if the applicant qualifies.

Applicant Health
Applicants must be in good health and capable of physically and mentally performing the duties of surgical assistant. Upon acceptance into the program, students will be required to undergo a physical exam, a drug screening and receive the proper vaccinations.
