Hospice  is a philosophy of care for people with life-threatening illnesses such as end-stage heart disease, ALS, Alzheimer's disease and cancer. Hospice treats the whole person, not just the condition. We focus on quality of life and facilitating comfort, whether in the patient’s home or an extended-care facility.

Aultman Hospice provides support to help patients and their families make the most of each remaining day of life. Our staff members have the knowledge and experience you and your family can trust with benefits including:

  • Home visits by registered nurses, home health aides, clergy, medical social workers and Aultman Hospice Medical Director Steven Grossman, M.D.
  • Inpatient care at the Compassionate Care Center, Stark County's only inpatient hospice facility.
  • Payment for medications and medical equipment necessary to manage the terminal illness.
  • A registered nurse on call 24/7.
  • Licensed massage therapists available.
  • A 13-month, follow-up bereavement program for family members.

Medicare, Medicaid and many commercial insurance companies cover hospice care at no cost to you and your family. However, Aultman provides hospice care regardless of a family’s ability to pay for services.
