Arteries supply oxygen-rich blood to the legs. Narrowing or blockage in the arteries - a condition known as peripheral arterial disease (PAD) - can cause cramping, pain or tiredness with walking or exercise. This exam looks for these blockages and areas of narrowing.
Blood pressure cuffs are applied to each arm and multiple areas on your legs. Clothing may need to be removed, so there is no interference with the testing. The cuffs will inflate and squeeze the legs. This may feel uncomfortable, but it will only last for a short time.
This test takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. No special preparation is needed.
