Sleep Study

Here is what you'll experience at the Aultman Sleep Center:

  • You will arrive at the Aultman Sleep Center at 9 p.m. on your appointment date.
  • Once you are settled into your sleep room, you will be hooked up to start a polysomnogram. This is a recording that contains several types of measurements used to identify different sleep stages and classify various sleep problems.
  • Your brain waves, heart rhythm, breathing patterns, body movements and oxygen levels will be monitored by applying small metal discs called electrodes on various parts your body. The procedure is painless and noninvasive.
  • You may watch TV, listen to music or read until your study begins.
  • Our goal is to monitor your sleep activities from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m.
  • The technical equipment and sleep technician are in an area separate from your sleeping room.
  • The sleep technician is available to assist you with anything you need.
  • Your doctor will receive the results of your sleep study.
