Oncology nurses at the Aultman Cancer Center take pride in the delivery of expert, compassionate care - with patients and their families as their primary focus. As essential members of the multidisciplinary team, nurses provide the balance between cutting-edge treatment and personalized care.

Each year, registered nurses are certified in chemotherapy administration by attending classes on new chemotherapy agents. All of the nurses undergo annual education at Aultman that includes classes about cancer and chemotherapy, skills competency and testing. The oncology staff also attends local, regional and national conferences on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancers such as breast, lung, colon and others. Our staff is strongly encouraged to seek national certification, and eight nurses are currently certified in oncology.

Our oncology staff educates patients and their families about their treatment upon admission. Families are involved in patient care and are encouraged to provide support to their loved ones. With unrestricted visiting hours in the Oncology Unit, Aultman Hospital works to meet the needs of our patients and families. Support groups are also offered to the patient and are headed by a specially trained social worker.

The Inpatient Oncology Unit is located on Memorial 6 South. It houses 26 private rooms.
