What is Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS)?
MIS, also called laparoscopic surgery, describes surgical procedures using the assistance of a small video camera and several thin instruments placed within the patient’s body through small incisions instead of one large incision as in open surgery.

MIS Benefits
Patients who are candidates for minimally invasive surgery benefit from:

  • Lower dosage of anesthesia
  • Less blood loss during surgery
  • Less risk for post-operative infection
  • Less trauma to the body
  • Less post-surgical pain
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Faster recovery times
  • Smaller scars
